    I am an enthusiastic CNRS researcher in Control Systems for Energy and Traffic applications at L2S, CentraleSupélec, Paris-Saclay University.

    My research is focused on analysis and control of linear, nonlinear and hybrid systems over communication networks, with application to energy systems and traffic control. Topics of current interest are:
    - Control and management methods for MicroGrids dedicated to distributed generation integration;
    - Analysis of the interconnections among several AC and DC MicroGrids with the main AC grid;

    - Optimal Management of Hybrid Energy Storage Systems for Energy Market participation;

    - Predictive control strategies for managing congestion on power transmission networks;
    - Adaptive Cruise Control for Autonomous Vehicles.

    Control of Power Systems

    Application to Smart Grids: DC Microgrids

    Due to the new connection constraints for the power network, requiring robust solutions able to cope with uncertainties and intermittence from renewable energy sources, the interconnection of such renewables with storage systems through DC links has to be investigated. A DC microgrid with “Plug and Play” approach based on the “System of Systems” philosophy composed by renewables (photovoltaic array), a long and slow term power flow provider storage system (battery), a short and fast term power flow provider storage system (supercapacitor) and a variable load is then introduced as solution. Connection to AC microgrids or the main AC grid are considered as well. The mathematical analysis is carried out both in the grid voltage stability framework, developing dedicated low level controllers for the devices connected to the different DC microgrid pieces, and in the power balance framework, with the implementation of a secondary level controller able to manage the energy in relation to the load and the battery constraints. The system is able to continuously supply good quality energy to the load or to the main AC grid.

    Management of Power Systems

    Power Flow Management of DC Microgrids

    DC MicroGrids present an increasing interest as they represent an advantageous solution for interconnecting renewable energy sources, storage systems and loads as electric vehicles. A power management system able to calculate the optimal reference values for the local controllers of each of the DC MicroGrid interconnected devices is introduced, together with the possibility to consider connection with the main AC grid. Both the changing environmental conditions and the expected load variations are taken into account. The controller considers power balance and the desired voltage level for the DC microgrid. Constraints taking into account the different nature of the storage devices are also considered.

    Hybrid Energy Storage Systems

    Optimal participation of HESSs to Energy Market

    An Advanced Energy Storage Dispatch Algorithm is proposed to the purpose to evaluate economic sustainability of Hybrid Energy Storage Systems participation on reserve markets. The profitability of selling the Energy Storage as a Service is investigated through a multi-objective optimization framework, to maximize revenues from the bidding mechanism while minimizing lifetime reduction of the whole set of storage devices.

    Traffic Control

    Application to Autonomous Vehicles and Adaptive Driver-Assistence Systems

    Due to the necessity to improve traffic management depending on a variety of different goals, a mesoscopic hybrid automaton is studied in order to obtain a human-inspired based adaptive cruise control. A microscopic hybrid automaton model for vehicle control based on human psycho-physical behavior is first presented; then a rule for changing time headway on the basis of macroscopic quantities is used to describe the interaction among all next vehicles and their impact on driver performance. Processing other vehicles information, the controller shows the advantage (necessity?) of considering the two description levels for improving traffic throughput.
